The appeal for a dog is the crunch. Plastic foil fills the body rather than fibre, so it crackles wherever it's squeezed, and there are squeakers in there too. Between the two you get a toy that makes a noise from more or less anywhere a dog puts their mouth, which is why this style holds attention longer than a plain squeaky plush.
