The pile draws moisture down so your pet lies on a dry surface rather than a damp one, and holds warmth against them. The ribbed backing grips wood, tile and crate bases, so it stays where you put it instead of rucking up when a dog turns three times before settling. Cut it to fit whatever you need it for, wash it at 40°C, and put it back down.

Vetfleece is the veterinary fleece vet bedding we have made in our own mill in Bridlington, Yorkshire for over 35 years. It is a 100% polyester fleece with a deep 25–28mm pile that holds warmth while liquid drains through, made to the same exacting standards as medical equipment and trusted by breeders, kennels, groomers and vets as well as pet owners at home.
The range is small and deliberate. The Original Greenback Fleece and the deeper, 1500gsm Original Heavy Duty Greenback Fleece have a double-woven green backing that lets fluids pass straight through to an absorbent pad, which is why breeders use them for whelping. The Non-Slip Multi Paw and Non-Slip Camouflage fleeces have a rubber backing that stays put on wooden, tiled and crate floors. Woven in, not printed on
Which is why it still looks like itself after a hundred washes.
A printed fleece looks fine in the photograph. The trouble comes after a dozen washes, because the pattern is sitting on the surface of the fibre waiting to come off, and it goes patchy. This design is woven into the yarn itself. There is nothing on top of it to wear away.
Underneath the design it is the same fleece as our plain Non-Slip range. Same pile, same backing, same job. The small extra cost is for the design and the finish, not for a deeper or heavier fabric.

Measure the bed, crate or area you want to cover, length by width, and pick the nearest size up. You can always trim it down.
Cutting it down
Cut along the backing with sharp scissors for a neat edge. It will not fray.
Buy two
Most owners keep a second piece so there is always a clean, dry fleece down while the other is in the wash.
Wash at 40°C, no hotter
The pile itself would take a great deal more, but the rubber backing starts to delaminate above 40, so that is the ceiling.
Tumble dry on low
Or leave it to air. It is quick drying either way. Do not bleach it, do not iron it, and do not dry clean it.
Between washes
Shake off loose hair and debris. The deep pile releases dirt easily. Wash it in a pet laundry bag to keep hair out of your machine.
A note worth reading: this is not waterproof. Liquid passes through the pile, which is exactly how the top stays dry, so for whelping or for a dog having accidents you want a washable or waterproof layer underneath it. Anyone telling you a vet fleece is waterproof has misunderstood how it works.
