Our office dogs Ruby and Boyo are massive fans of Peanut Butter and they won't leave my side if I'm having a Peanut Butter and strawberry jam sandwiches for my lunch (don't pull a face, it's delicious).

I used to buy the doggy peanut butter from my local pet store, until I realised that it contains exactly the same ingredients as my human supermarket version (and is half the price). You just need to make sure that it doesn't contain xylitol as this is toxic to dogs and could cause low blood sugar, seizures or even liver failure.

I started making these dog treats a few months ago, so I thought I'd share it with you and your dogs.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

This recipe makes: approx 24 small biscuits

Ingredients

150g whole wheat flour

3 tsp Smooth Peanut Butter

124ml water

Directions

Simply add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix them all together until fully combined. If you find the consistency too sticky, just add a little more flour. Roll out the mix to a thickness of around 3mm and cut into shapes. I use a dog bone shaped metal cutter, but if you don't have one of these, you can cut them into even squares (around 6cm's). These biscuits have a tendency to puff up whist baking, but if you'd prefer them to be flat, just poke in holes using a folk (before baking) so the air can escape. Bake these in a pre heated oven at 180º C for 30 minutes or until brown and crispy. It's not advisable to give your dog these treats every day, so keep them in an airtight container. You can keep these treats for 2-3 weeks.
